Some days I feel like I’m in the trenches of motherhood. It’s the days where I have seven loads of laundry to do, the floor is caked with dirt, I forgot the field trip form again, and I have about 1.5 hours of free time in the next week to get it done. On those days I sometimes feel a bit alone, overwhelmed, and in need of some encouragement.
On overwhelming days there are lots of things that make me feel better – a good book, funny TV, and even a glass of wine! But what always works for me is to turn to the Bible. God’s words always calm me instantly and encourage me to keep going and keep smiling. It helps me to know that I’m not ever doing this alone.
We’ve compiled a list of our favorite devotions for moms. We’d love to hear yours, too!
1 Corinthians 13:4-8
4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.
